Nathan Thornton hails from an elite family; his mother chairs the Celestial Consortium, and his father is the formidable Northreach Lord. Pretending to be an ordinary man, he falls in love with Emily Price, until a sudden car crash leaves him comatose for three years. During those years, Emily scrapes together his medical bills by selling bubble tea, working construction, and even donating blood. She endures contempt from his family and mockery from the world. Then one night, he finally wakes up.
